The most hilarious interview with DT and RTD. :)

(Can't be linked enough, if you ask me.)
(Which I posted in the comments to the last one and it's just too good to share for a Whovian!):

(Don't want to direct-link this, it'll do, won't it?)

No really. ^^
Probably funnier for the Germans, as it's not quite as mistakable in English, but nevertheless...

Or at least know where to look and double-check, if possible.

It turns out that the new German minister for economy, Mr zu Guttenberg has a wagonload of first names, since he's from the nobility. Nearly every major newspaper in Germany hit on to that fact. Among the array of names given they always gave "Wilhelm", too. Which is about the only first name Mr zu Guttenberg doesn't have.

How did it come to this?
There was a guy who decided to have fun with wikipedia, and inserted the "Wilhelm" into Mr zu Guttenbergs wikipedia entry just after the announcement of his appointment had been made. It ended up across what is basically the entirety of German media. And because wikipedia takes media citation as proof of reliability, this created an interesting circle.

So, lessons learned?
Serious journalism isn't what it used to be. The hive-mind that is the internet is largely self-referential. And wikipedia is, after all, changeable by everyone. So don't be surprised if everyone does just that.

I'm sure there's something infinitely more philosophical about this little incident, but I can't really put it into words. It was just a thing I deem very worth noticing.

This is the German bildblog entry for this.
Plus a recap of how major news sites reacted:

... Aretha Franklin. In fact, I think I still do.

But I've come to the conclusion that  I really, really don't like her hat. And the fact that it's popping up EVERYWHERE does not help one little bit. That's one meme that's really getting on my nerves. :oP

(Although I must admit, Ten with a brown-striped Aretha-hat was kind of a cute idea.
I wonder if Ms Franklin has any idea about the web wave she created with that particular piece of headwear.)

Apparently, this Gentleman wasn't too impressed with his food on a Virgin transcontinental flight.

So he wrote a letter to Richard Branson.

Gotta love this.
... personally I think it's rather funny that the biggest flight attendants' union is called UFO.

... when you run an online virus scan (just to be sure with all the Conficker talk going on), after about 20% it tells you you're infected, making you all nervous, and after an eternity of scanning it turns out that all the damn thing has found are five TRACKING COOKIES?

From [ profile] persiflage_1's LJ (originally from Neil Gaiman's Twitter) comes this gem. XD

Anybody on my German flist remember Benny Hill (I suppose I don't have to ask the English native speakers, right?)

Whoever came up with the idea to mix Doctor Who, Benny Hill and Eminem rules. And may also have a serious drug problem. ROFL

Edit: Credits for this go to BabelColour.

Those two would've been great friends with our first family cat. She used to sit on the door like that all the time.
The RSC members' paper. With a nice little group shot of the Hamlet cast visiting the building site of the new Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford.

Here it is:

That was him in Ruby in the Smoke:  )I  don't think he's ugly - he's a bit like Ten, not handsome in a slick way, but interesting. It might work. Although he's still a bit young.
